XSS Targeting Non-Script Elements

This attack is a form of Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) where malicious scripts are embedded in elements that are not expected to host scripts such as image tags (), comments in XML documents (< !-CDATA->), etc. These tags may not be subject to the same input validation, output validation, and other content filtering and checking routines, so this can create an opportunity for an adversary to tunnel through the application's elements and launch a XSS attack through other elements. As with all remote attacks, it is important to differentiate the ability to launch an attack (such as probing an internal network for unpatched servers) and the ability of the remote adversary to collect and interpret the output of said attack.

CVE-2019-13923A vulnerability has been identified in IE/WSN-PA Link WirelessHART Gateway (All versions). The integrated configuration web server of the affected device could allow Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks if unsuspecting users are tricked into accessing a malicious link. User interaction is required for a successful exploitation. The user must be logged into the web interface in order for the exploitation to succeed. At the stage of publishing this security advisory no public exploitation is known.
CVE-2025-53883A Improper Neutralization of Script-Related HTML Tags in a Web Page (Basic XSS) vulnerability allows attackers to run arbitrary javascript via a reflected XSS issue in the search fields. This issue affects Container suse/manager/5.0/x86_64/server:latest: from ? before 5.0.28-150600.3.36.8; SUSE Manager Server LTS 4.3: from ? before 4.3.88-150400.3.113.5.
CVE-2026-32891Anchorr is a Discord bot for requesting movies and TV shows and receiving notifications when items are added to a media server. Versions 1.4.1 and below contain a stored XSS vulnerability in the Jellyseerr user selector. Jellyseerr allows any account holder to execute arbitrary JavaScript in the Anchorr admin's browser session. The injected script calls the authenticated /api/config endpoint - which returns the full application configuration in plaintext. This allows the attacker to forge a valid Anchorr session token and gain full admin access to the dashboard with no knowledge of the admin password. The same response also exposes the API keys and tokens for every integrated service, resulting in simultaneous account takeover of the Jellyfin media server (via JELLYFIN_API_KEY), the Jellyseerr request manager (via JELLYSEERR_API_KEY), and the Discord bot (via DISCORD_TOKEN). This issue has been fixed in version 1.4.2.
CVE-2024-52300macro-pdfviewer is a PDF Viewer Macro for XWiki using Mozilla pdf.js. The width parameter of the PDF viewer macro isn't properly escaped, allowing XSS for any user who can edit a page. XSS can impact the confidentiality, integrity and availability of the whole XWiki installation when an admin visits the page with the malicious code. This is fixed in 2.5.6.
CVE-2022-25620Improper Neutralization of Script-Related HTML Tags in a Web Page (Basic XSS) vulnerability in Group Functionality of Profelis IT Consultancy SambaBox allows AUTHENTICATED user to cause execute arbitrary codes on the vulnerable server. CVE-2026-6002Improper neutralization of Script-Related HTML tags in a web page (basic XSS) vulnerability in DivvyDrive Information Technologies Inc. DivvyDrive allows Cross-Site Scripting (XSS). This issue affects DivvyDrive: from 4.8.2.9 before 4.8.3.2.

CVE-2026-27458LinkAce is a self-hosted archive to collect website links. Versions 2.4.2 and below have a Stored Cross-site Scripting vulnerability through the Atom feed endpoint for lists (/lists/feed). An authenticated user can inject a CDATA-breaking payload into a list description that escapes the XML CDATA section, injects a native SVG element into the Atom XML document, and executes arbitrary JavaScript directly in the browser when the feed URL is visited. No RSS reader or additional rendering context is required — the browser's native XML parser processes the injected SVG and fires the onload event handler. This vulnerability exists because the lists feed template outputs list descriptions using Blade's raw syntax ({!! !!}) without sanitization inside a CDATA block. The critical detail is that because the output sits inside ..., an attacker can inject the sequence to close the CDATA section prematurely, then inject arbitrary XML/SVG elements that the browser parses and executes natively as part of the Atom document. This issue has been fixed in version 2.4.3.
CVE-2025-4278An issue has been discovered in GitLab CE/EE affecting all versions starting with 18.0 before 18.0.2. Under certain conditions html injection in new search page could lead to account takeover.
CVE-2025-30210Bruno is an open source IDE for exploring and testing APIs. Prior to 1.39.1, the custom tool-tip components which internally use react-tooltip were setting the content (in this case the Environment name) as raw HTML which then gets injected into DOM on hover. This, combined with loose Content Security Policy restrictions, allowed any valid HTML text containing inline script to get executed on hovering over the respective Environment's name. This vulnerability's attack surface is limited strictly to scenarios where users import collections from untrusted or malicious sources. The exploit requires deliberate action from the user—specifically, downloading and opening an externally provided malicious Bruno or Postman collection export and the user hovers on the environment name. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.39.1.
CVE-2026-25935Vikunja is a todo-app to organize your life. Prior to 1.1.0, TaskGlanceTooltip.vue temporarily creates a div and sets the innerHtml to the description. Since there is no escaping on either the server or client side, a malicious user can share a project, create a malicious task, and cause an XSS on hover. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.1.0.
CVE-2025-66450LibreChat is a ChatGPT clone with additional features. In versions 0.8.0 and below, when a user posts a question, the iconURL parameter of the POST request can be modified by an attacker. The malicious code is then stored in the chat which can then be shared to other users. When sharing chats with a potentially malicious “tracker”, resources loaded can lead to loss of privacy for users who view the chat link that is sent to them. This issue is fixed in version 0.8.1.
CVE-2026-44369CVAT is an open source interactive video and image annotation tool for computer vision. From 2.5.0 to 2.63.0, an attacker who is able to create or edit an annotation guide on a task is able to add malicious JavaScript code, which will then run in the browser of anyone who opens this annotation guide. This code will be able to make arbitrary requests to CVAT with the victim user's privileges. This vulnerability is fixed in 2.64.0.
