Modify Authentication Process

Adversaries may modify authentication mechanisms and processes to access user credentials or enable otherwise unwarranted access to accounts. The authentication process is handled by mechanisms, such as the Local Security Authentication Server (LSASS) process and the Security Accounts Manager (SAM) on Windows, pluggable authentication modules (PAM) on Unix-based systems, and authorization plugins on MacOS systems, responsible for gathering, storing, and validating credentials. By modifying an authentication process, an adversary may be able to authenticate to a service or system without using Valid Accounts. Adversaries may maliciously modify a part of this process to either reveal credentials or bypass authentication mechanisms. Compromised credentials or access may be used to bypass access controls placed on various resources on systems within the network and may even be used for persistent access to remote systems and externally available services, such as VPNs, Outlook Web Access and remote desktop.

Affected vulnerabilities (Inferred)

CVE-2026-47691Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. Prior to versions 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final, Netty's `DnsResolveContext` insufficiently validates the bailiwick of NS records, enabling DNS Cache Poisoning. An attacker controlling an authoritative name server for a subdomain can poison the cache for parent domains (like `.co.uk`). In `io.netty.resolver.dns.DnsResolveContext.AuthoritativeNameServerList#add` method accepts any NS record from the AUTHORITY section as long as the record's name is a suffix of the questionName. Subsequently, the `handleWithAdditional` method caches the associated A records from the ADDITIONAL section directly into the `authoritativeDnsServerCache` under the parent domain's key. This bypasses standard bailiwick rules, where a server authoritative for a subdomain should not be trusted to provide authoritative records for its parent. The poisoned cache is then used for all future resolutions under the parent domain's key. Versions 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final patch the issue.
CVE-2026-45674Netty is a network application framework for development of protocol servers and clients. Prior to versions 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final, Netty's DnsResolveContext fails to validate the origin (bailiwick) of CNAME records in DNS responses. Versions 4.1.135.Final and 4.2.15.Final patch the issue.
CVE-2026-34976Dgraph is an open source distributed GraphQL database. Prior to 25.3.1, the restoreTenant admin mutation is missing from the authorization middleware config (admin.go), making it completely unauthenticated. Unlike the similar restore mutation which requires Guardian-of-Galaxy authentication, restoreTenant executes with zero middleware. This mutation accepts attacker-controlled backup source URLs (including file:// for local filesystem access), S3/MinIO credentials, encryption key file paths, and Vault credential file paths. An unauthenticated attacker can overwrite the entire database, read server-side files, and perform SSRF. This vulnerability is fixed in 25.3.1.
CVE-2026-31957Himmelblau is an interoperability suite for Microsoft Azure Entra ID and Intune. From 3.0.0 to before 3.1.0, if Himmelblau is deployed without a configured tenant domain in himmelblau.conf, authentication is not tenant-scoped. In this mode, Himmelblau can accept authentication attempts for arbitrary Entra ID domains by dynamically registering providers at runtime. This behavior is intended for initial/local bootstrap scenarios, but it can create risk in remote authentication environments. This vulnerability is fixed in 3.1.0.
CVE-2026-28775An unauthenticated Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability exists in the SNMP service of International Datacasting Corporation (IDC) SFX Series SuperFlex SatelliteReceiver. The deployment insecurely provisions the `private` SNMP community string with read/write access by default. Because the SNMP agent runs as root, an unauthenticated remote attacker can utilize `NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB` directives, abusing the fact that the system runs a vulnerable version of net-snmp pre 5.8, to execute arbitrary operating system commands with root privileges.
CVE-2026-2031An Improper Access Control vulnerability in several internal API endpoints for Google Cloud Application Integration prior to 2026-01-23 allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to disclose sensitive internal information and execute arbitrary code using specially crafted HTTP requests to inadvertently exposed internal API endpoints.
CVE-2026-20079A vulnerability in the web interface of Cisco Secure Firewall Management Center (FMC) Software could allow an unauthenticated, remote attacker to bypass authentication and execute script files on an affected device to obtain root access to the underlying operating system. This vulnerability is due to an improper system process that is created at boot time. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by sending crafted HTTP requests to an affected device. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute a variety of scripts and commands that allow root access to the device.
CVE-2025-64121Authentication Bypass Using an Alternate Path or Channel vulnerability in Nuvation Energy Multi-Stack Controller (MSC) allows Authentication Bypass. This issue affects Multi-Stack Controller (MSC): from 2.3.8 before 2.5.1.
CVE-2025-45854/server/executeExec of JEHC-BPM 2.0.1 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via execParams.
CVE-2025-41672A remote unauthenticated attacker may use default certificates to generate JWT Tokens and gain full access to the tool and all connected devices.
CVE-2025-30416Sensitive data disclosure and manipulation due to missing authorization. The following products are affected: Acronis Cyber Protect 16 (Linux, Windows) before build 39938, Acronis Cyber Protect 15 (Linux, Windows) before build 41800.
CVE-2025-22609Coolify is an open-source and self-hostable tool for managing servers, applications, and databases. Prior to version 4.0.0-beta.361, the missing authorization allows any authenticated user to attach any existing private key on a coolify instance to his own server. If the server configuration of IP / domain, port (most likely 22) and user (root) matches with the victim's server configuration, then the attacker can use the `Terminal` feature and execute arbitrary commands on the victim's server. Version 4.0.0-beta.361 fixes the issue.
CVE-2024-6500The InPost for WooCommerce plugin and InPost PL plugin for WordPress are vulnerable to unauthorized access and deletion of data due to a missing capability check on the 'parse_request' function in all versions up to, and including, 1.4.0 (for InPost for WooCommerce) as well as 1.4.4 (for InPost PL). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to read and delete arbitrary files on Windows servers. On Linux servers, only files within the WordPress install will be deleted, but all files can be read.
CVE-2024-6071PTC Creo Elements/Direct License Server exposes a web interface which can be used by unauthenticated remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands on the server.
CVE-2024-52416Missing Authorization vulnerability in Eugen Bobrowski Debug Tool allows Upload a Web Shell to a Web Server. This issue affects Debug Tool: from n/a through 2.2.
