Software Deployment Tools

Adversaries may gain access to and use centralized software suites installed within an enterprise to execute commands and move laterally through the network. Configuration management and software deployment applications may be used in an enterprise network or cloud environment for routine administration purposes. These systems may also be integrated into CI/CD pipelines. Examples of such solutions include: SCCM, HBSS, Altiris, AWS Systems Manager, Microsoft Intune, Azure Arc, and GCP Deployment Manager. Access to network-wide or enterprise-wide endpoint management software may enable an adversary to achieve remote code execution on all connected systems. The access may be used to laterally move to other systems, gather information, or cause a specific effect, such as wiping the hard drives on all endpoints. SaaS-based configuration management services may allow for broad Cloud Administration Command on cloud-hosted instances, as well as the execution of arbitrary commands on on-premises endpoints. For example, Microsoft Configuration Manager allows Global or Intune Administrators to run scripts as SYSTEM on on-premises devices joined to Entra ID. Such services may also utilize Web Protocols to communicate back to adversary owned infrastructure. Network infrastructure devices may also have configuration management tools that can be similarly abused by adversaries. The permissions required for this action vary by system configuration; local credentials may be sufficient with direct access to the third-party system, or specific domain credentials may be required. However, the system may require an administrative account to log in or to access specific functionality.

Affected vulnerabilities (Inferred)

CVE-2026-34841Bruno is an open source IDE for exploring and testing APIs. Prior to 3.2.1, Bruno was affected by a supply chain attack involving compromised versions of the axios npm package, which introduced a hidden dependency deploying a cross-platform Remote Access Trojan (RAT). Users of @usebruno/cli who ran npm install between 00:21 UTC and ~03:30 UTC on March 31, 2026 may have been impacted. Upgrade to 3.2.1
CVE-2025-56513NiceHash QuickMiner 6.12.0 perform software updates over HTTP without validating digital signatures or hash checks. An attacker capable of intercepting or redirecting traffic to the update url and can hijack the update process and deliver arbitrary executables that are automatically executed, resulting in full remote code execution. This constitutes a critical supply chain attack vector.
CVE-2025-40604Download of Code Without Integrity Check Vulnerability in the SonicWall Email Security appliance loads root filesystem images without verifying signatures, allowing attackers with VMDK or datastore access to modify system files and gain persistent arbitrary code execution.
CVE-2025-31355A firmware update vulnerability exists in the Firmware Signature Validation functionality of Tenda AC6 V5.0 V02.03.01.110. A specially crafted malicious file can lead to arbitrary code execution. An attacker can provide a malicious file to trigger this vulnerability.
CVE-2025-28236Nautel VX Series transmitters VX SW v6.4.0 and below was discovered to contain a remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability in the firmware update process. This vulnerability allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via supplying a crafted update package to the /#/software/upgrades endpoint.
CVE-2024-27438Download of Code Without Integrity Check vulnerability in Apache Doris. The jdbc driver files used for JDBC catalog is not checked and may resulting in remote command execution. Once the attacker is authorized to create a JDBC catalog, he/she can use arbitrary driver jar file with unchecked code snippet. This code snippet will be run when catalog is initializing without any check. This issue affects Apache Doris: from 1.2.0 through 2.0.4. Users are recommended to upgrade to version 2.0.5 or 2.1.x, which fixes the issue.
CVE-2023-45799In MLSoft TCO!stream versions 8.0.22.1115 and below, a vulnerability exists due to insufficient permission validation. This allows an attacker to make the victim download and execute arbitrary files.
CVE-2023-41921A vulnerability allows attackers to download source code or an executable from a remote location and execute the code without sufficiently verifying the origin and integrity of the code. This vulnerability can allow attackers to modify the firmware before uploading it to the system, thus achieving the modification of the target’s integrity to achieve an insecure state.
CVE-2023-37220 Synel Terminals - CWE-494: Download of Code Without Integrity Check
CVE-2023-27574ShadowsocksX-NG 1.10.0 signs with com.apple.security.get-task-allow entitlements because of CODE_SIGNING_INJECT_BASE_ENTITLEMENTS.
CVE-2022-24117Certain General Electric Renewable Energy products download firmware without an integrity check. This affects iNET and iNET II before 8.3.0, SD before 6.4.7, TD220X before 2.0.16, and TD220MAX before 1.2.6.
CVE-2020-7883Printchaser v2.2021.804.1 and earlier versions contain a vulnerability, which could allow remote attacker to download and execute remote file by setting the argument, variable in the activeX module. This can be leveraged for code execution.
CVE-2020-7873Download of code without integrity check vulnerability in ActiveX control of Younglimwon Co., Ltd allows the attacker to cause a arbitrary file download and execution.
CVE-2020-7826EyeSurfer BflyInstallerX.ocx v1.0.0.16 and earlier versions contain a vulnerability that could allow remote files to be download by setting the arguments to the vulnerable method. This can be leveraged for code execution. When the vulnerable method is called, they fail to properly check the parameters that are passed to it.
CVE-2020-7813Ezhttptrans.ocx ActiveX Control in Kaoni ezHTTPTrans 1.0.0.70 and prior versions contain a vulnerability that could allow remote attacker to download and execute arbitrary file by setting the arguments to the activex method. This can be leveraged for code execution.
